For more than 85 years, the Manly-Warringah Referees Association has been a visual presence on rugby league grounds across Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Founded in 1933, its members have been witness to the sport’s biggest stars, whether it be their first game in under 6s or their 100th game in open age football. A distinguished number have even officiated at the highest level, including First Grade grand finals, State of Origin and International spectacles.
The Association is affiliated with the New South Wales Rugby League Referees Association and supports pathways through to the elite levels of the game by providing quality coaching and opportunities at the grass roots level.
Refereeing is also a great way to meet new people, form lasting friendships, keep fit, and be involved in the greatest game of all.
Currently there are over 50 active members, officiating in up to 150 games a week across 20 venues in the district competition. Three members are part of the NSW Rugby League grade squad, and two hold full-time contracts with the National Rugby League.
